12 Tips to Overcome Laziness

"i think this would be of great help to a lot of people"

Tip 1: Make sure you read this to the end.

What is laziness?

It is the desire to be idle, to do nothing and resist effort.

It is a state of passivity and of letting things stay as they are.

Sometimes, we enjoy being a little lazy, such as after working hard for several hours, or on a very cold or warm day, but if this state occurs too often, something has to be done about it.

In order to perform our chores and work efficiently, and to live a full, active and successful life, we must learn how to overcome laziness.

Simple tips for overcoming laziness:

1) Break down a task into smaller tasks
We often avoid tasks because we find them too big, too overwhelming, too tiring, or taking too much of our time.

The Mental Noise

Mental noise is the constant chatter of the mind that never stops. It is the inner conversation or inner monologue that goes on constantly in the mind.

It is possible that you are not always unaware of this mental noise, because it has become a deeply embedded habit, and is considered as a natural and inseparable part of life.

This mental noise is like a background noise that never ceases, from the moment of waking up in the morning, to the moment of falling asleep at night. Often, it even prevents you from falling asleep. It is a sort of inner voice that constantly analyzes everything about your life, circumstances, and the people you meet. It is a voice in the head that just keeps talking and talking!

The mind also repeats the same thoughts over and over again, like in a loop, like a record that got stuck. If these are a positive thought that's fine. However, too often, these are negative thoughts that intensify stress, worry, anger or frustration. These are thoughts that you absolutely do not need.

Thinking is a useful activity required for solving problems, analyzing, comparing, studying, planning, etc, but too often, the mind roams where it wills, occupying the attention with trivial matters and unimportant, useless thinking that wastes your time and energy.

8 Tips to Help Create a Positive Mental Attitude

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt

For years I lived an uneventful existence. I wasn't happy. I wasn't unhappy either. I was just sort of stuck.

I had a good career, earned lots of money, and I had great friends and a loving family. You would think that this doesn't sound too bad, but I felt unfulfilled and unmotivated. I repeatedly lived each day like the one before.

I looked around me and saw that everybody within my own circle of friends, relatives, and immediate family were no different. They too seemed stuck. They seemed unmotivated—like they were living their lives on automatic pilot.

I began to question why this was. Why do so many people just accept this pattern as normal, as if this is the way it is supposed to be?

I read hundreds of books on philosophy, psychology, and spirituality. I continued with this for a couple of years until I gradually I began to see things with greater clarity. I began to wake up. Then one day, out of the blue it just hit me, like a ton of bricks.

The key to unlocking my prison door was not contained in any books I read (although they did help me somewhat). It was in my ability to accept what “is” in this moment. So I now I make that choice.

Here are 8 tips to help you make that choice:

Gossip Ruins People

"A LXG reader sent me this over the weekend and i think its a very interesting piece we all should read and learn from." Please enjoy.
If you don’t have something nice to say, just zip that trap. We all heard that line (or some variation of it) when we were little. Every one of us has been the subject of gossip at some point in their lives. You know how much it hurts. So here’s the big questions:

WHY DO WE STILL DO IT?

I laid awake for much of the night wondering that. Just before I fell asleep, I found out that there are people who I barely know, in this brand new town of mine, gossiping about me. Rash, hurtful words that pinned me at my most vulnerable point.

10 Simple Things Every Girl Wants

This was sent to me last night by one of the readers, it's an awesome piece of work.

It’s fine to look back on old relationships and find the humor in your obvious poor choices, but if you’re not learning lessons, you’re not doing your next relationship any favors. No one’s reading (or writing!) this blog because they want to be single forever—can I get an “Amen”?
I was asked recently to write a list of what I really wanted out of a partner. When I read it, I realized I was staying in relationships to, well, stay in relationships. And then I was single. Not throw-your-hands-up-and-celebrate-Beyonce-style single. More like oh-shit-I’m-single? single.
So here’s my list. I can assure you that any girl who’s ready to be in a relationship has a similarly honest one. And, if you’re being honest, fellas, you  don’t have 10 checkmarks here. I know some of you are rolling your eyes, but use it as a friendly refresher, a reminder that simple and honest is a good thing.

Self-discipline

Self-discipline can be considered a type of selective training, creating new habits of
thought, action, and speech toward improving yourself and reaching goals.
Self-discipline can also be task oriented and selective.
View self-discipline as positive effort, rather than one of denial.

10 Things Really Amazing Employees Do

It takes a lot to recruit and maintain top talent. Every once in a while special employees come along that just really seem to get it. They drive the entire company forward in ways that were unimaginable. Advancement and reward is never an issue for these rock stars because they understand the power of cause and effect, and only a worthy company can retain them and afford them.

Here are 10 things amazing employees seem to do effortlessly. Here's how to help your great employees be even more amazing.

1. Enthusiastically Learn All Aspects of Business

They understand they're part of something bigger and more worthwhile than just their job. They look to learn other areas of the business and be fluent in finance and management so they'll positively impact multiple areas of the company.

How I Hire: Focus On Personality by Richard Branson

If you don't know Richard Branson, then let me introduce you to him. He is the founder of Virgin (i.e Virgin Altantic etc.) and he is one of the wealthiest man alive.
So here is his view on how he hires his employees....we can all learn from this. Enjoy!!

There is nothing more important for a business than hiring the right team. If you get the perfect mix of people working for your company, you have a far greater chance of success. However, the best person for the job doesn’t always walk right through your door.

The first thing to look for when searching for a great employee is somebody with a personality that fits with your company culture. Most skills can be learned, but it is difficult to train people on their personality. If you can find people who are fun, friendly, caring and love helping others, you are on to a winner.

Personality is the key. It is not something that always comes out in interview – people can be shy. But you have to trust your judgement. If you have got a slightly introverted person with a great personality, use your experience to pull it out of them. It is easier with an extrovert, but be wary of people becoming overexcited in the pressure of interviews.

Fairfax hands BlackBerry $4.7-billion lifeline

Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.’s preliminary offer to buy BlackBerry Ltd. for $4.7-billion (U.S.) sets out a potential rescue plan for a company that is losing the fight for smartphone customers.

The $9-a-share bid, announced Thursday, puts at least a temporary halt to the deluge of bad news surrounding the Waterloo, Ont.-based company. Late Friday, BlackBerry issued a grim set of financial results, saying it lost nearly $1-billion in the second quarter, is writing off a large inventory of unsold phones and will cut 4,500 jobs.

The shares lost about 20 per cent of their value following that announcement. Then the Fairfax news broke in the early afternoon Monday, and the stock jumped 7 per cent, closing at $9.08 (Canadian).

9 People You Must Remove From Your Inner Circle

When you're trying to get a business off the ground, the people you surround yourself with matter. Keep these nine types at a distance.

You are what you eat, and you definitely are whom you associate with. The people closest to you make all the difference--in a good and a bad way.

Of course, it can be tough to find great new connections and friends to add to your inner circle; people who will support you, help you, and encourage, motivate, and inspire you.

It's a lot easier to spot the people in your inner circle who are holding you back.

If you have people like these in your inner circle, remove them:

What Interviewers Wish They Could Tell Every Job Candidate

In the best interviews, job candidates say a lot and interviewers very little – after all, the interview is about the candidate, not the interviewer.

But there are a few things interviewers would like to tell job candidates well before the interview starts.

1. I want you to be likeable.

Obvious? Sure, but also critical. I want to work with people I like and who in turn like me.

Mind Games Men Like Playing On Women

Yea! Yea!! i know i have snitching a lot on my fellows dudes, this just has to be posted...Lol

Some men really love playing mind games on women. I know I do. Playing mind games involves only ONE thing – the ability to send mixed signals and toy with someone’s emotions in the process.

Mind games are done for so many reasons. Some men play it just to test the woman – her love, loyalty, emotional capability, her level of understanding as well as her intelligence. Count me in.

Sometimes some other people play it when they really want to obtain something from the woman and they know that the only way to make her reconsider is to shock her by toying with her emotions. These guys are what I call the real players.

These real players or masters of the game have earlier recognize how weak and emotional women could be and they are using this female shortcoming all to their advantage.

But some other guys simply play it because…

OK. Wait I am just looking over my shoulders just to make sure no angry girl/s is close by because of what I am about to say next…

OK. I think it’s safe to talk now.

How to Study Effectively

Studying effectively takes determination, effort, organization and practice. If your study skills are rusty (or never were very good), the best time to improve them is before you go back to school. You'll be busy enough when school starts!

Set up a study schedule.
Your schedule should be flexible, but it should be written down.A schedule helps you get organized and make decisions about how much time to spend on what (so you don't spend too much time on relatively unimportant assignments). Start by writing down exam and assignment due dates and work back from there. You may find that you can't afford to take a full two days off every weekend, but do schedule some time for recreation.

How to Find the Right Business Inspiration

I was asked by a reader "I want to do business but i have to idea or inspiration to start anything. How can i find a business inspiration?"
I hope this post help answer all your questions, enjoy!

Business inspiration is the background for the emergence of a business idea. Things that are trivial and unintentional though business could be the inspiration that will give birth to great ideas and innovative business. Inspiration does not have to wait, but it can also look for the origin of intentions and desires.

Business inspiration also sometimes arise from a variety of circumstances and conditions. Not always you sit down, shut up and look for inspiration that came to me. Inspiration sometimes even business can come from a variety of empirical experience of one's life.

Difficult economic conditions and a person's life is sometimes deliberately encouraged the emergence of a brilliant business inspiration.

How 4 Words Control Your Career Decisions

Did you know four little words form a simple question that, in my experience, has a serious impact on your career decisions? Let me prove it to you: Imagine you are in a room full of strangers. In order to strike up a conversation, besides introducing yourself and asking a person their name, what’s one of the first questions you’ll ask?

ANSWER: “What do you do?”

There it is. A simple question that is so commonly used in our society, most people ask it absent-mindedly, in the same way they ask a friend, “How are you?” However, the question “What do you do?” has a much more serious implication. That’s because, as soon as we hear a person’s answer, we begin to size them up.

No Job Posted...Send Resume Anyway?

I got this question from a reader regarding submitting a resume to companies that don't appear to be hiring:

In one of your webinars recently you said go straight to the companies and avoid the postings. My question is: Do you make sure that a company is hiring or do you just send your letter and resume and hope for the best? Some companies do not accept resumes if they don't have a specific job opening.

The answer is "no." You shouldn't blindly submit your materials. But, not because a company won't accept them. They will. However...

Why Women Want Rich Men

I came across this awesome article and as usual decided to share it my peeps.

I'd like to shed some light on this subject for the men out there. It's well-known that men and women are largely predisposed to a certain gender-based pattern of thinking, and as a result, we analyze, process, and perceive life differently. We are simply wired that way from birth.

Although I cannot speak for all women, as a female myself, I feel qualified to speak on behalf of at least most women.

Coming soon: World's first 'invisible' tower

(CNN) -- For architecture buffs numbed by the ongoing global battle to crank out record-breaking tall buildings, here's something innovative to spark the imagination.
The South Korean government has granted approval to begin construction on the world's first "invisible" tower.
Designed by U.S.-based GDS Architects, the glass-encased Tower Infinity will top out at 450 meters (1,476 feet) and have the third highest observation deck in the world.
The project is backed by Korea Land & Housing Corporation, a state-owned land and public housing developer.
The invisibility illusion will be achieved with a high-tech LED facade system that uses a series of cameras that will send real-time images onto the building's reflective surface.
It will be built just outside of Seoul near the Incheon International Airport.
Neither the developer nor GDS have released a target completion date.
The development will reportedly be used primarily for leisure activities. It will include a series of observation decks, a movie theater, roller coaster, water park and numerous food and beverage outlets.

Google Laughs at the New iPhones

Google's management team is dancing around its new KitKat statue today, having dodged what could have been a competitive bullet or two from Apple -- possibly the new iWatch, iTV or even a new laptop. For heaven's sake, they didn't even announce a new iPad!

There was nothing new from Apple today that could stop Google's market share march forward.

Another company that's having a field day today: Nokia. Apple's new iPhone 5C is seemingly a flawless copy of the Nokia 620 that has already been available for several months.

Oh, and the price of that Nokia 620 is approximately half that of the iPhone 5C.

Fingerprint sensor? You mean the same thing I got on my Dell laptop in 2007? And on the Motorola Atrix Android smartphone in January 2011? If Apple's latest claim to fame is to having copied a Dell 2007 laptop and a January 2011 Motorola smartphone, then Apple is in trouble.

Which is why Google is celebrating today.

Google's Android and Chrome teams were already nicely ahead of Apple's iOS team in terms of service integration, customization, ease of use and ability to ship a given grade of hardware at a much lower price.

Over the next few months, Google's Android and Chrome teams seek to extend their existing lead over Apple. The company will introduce Android OS version 4.4 KitKat, a slew of new Chromebook laptops starting around $199, a Chromepad (touchscreen Chrome OS tablet) and next summer the first Chromephone (Chrome OS replacing Android on the smartphone). The pace of innovation at Google is simply faster than it is at Apple these days.

Even before Google unveils these new initiatives, look at how far Google is ahead of Apple in the smartphone race: At $549 unlocked for the iPhone 5C, it is $300 more than Google's flagship smartphone, the LG Nexus 4, which sells for $249 SIM-unlocked, contract-free.

And the iPhone 5C only has only a four-inch screen, compared to the Nexus 4.7-inch screen. The Nexus also has a 768x1280 screen resolution, meaningfully higher than the iPhone 5C and 5S alike.

How To Forgive, And Why You Should

This topic sounds very simple but it will amaze you that a lot of us (yes even ME) find it very hard to forgive and forget. So i came across this online today and decided to share it with you guys...i hope it helps.

The deepest wounds feel like they'll last a lifetime: The absent mother who robbed you of the mother-daughter bond you craved and deserved. The eighth-grade bully who turned the classroom into a living nightmare. The boyfriend who broke his promises and chose her instead.

You feel bitter. You still hold a grudge. But clinging to those betrayals and disappointments, that hurt, is bad for the body and mind. "It's inevitable that we'll all be hurt by others, and that it will happen often," says clinical psychologist Ryan Howes, who's based in Pasadena, Calif. "People have accidents, make mistakes, behave selfishly and even intentionally try to hurt one another. We can't escape it. Forgiveness is a vulnerable act that can feel like it opens us up to more pain. But we need to have a way to process and let go of the effects of injury, or we risk serious physical and emotional consequences."

Are you a real man?

That’s a pretty tough question when you think about it.

It may have been a while since you’ve asked yourself or perhaps you never have.

Guys, ever heard of this? Ladies, ever said or believed this? It leaves us disappointed and leaves the good men, yes there are real good men, at bay. So if you find a man with all the qualities you've ever wanted him in a man, to avoid a rude awakening, expect him to do the following.

A real man…

Nokia deal could help Microsoft curb Google threat in Africa

Summary: Analysts say Microsoft’s purchase of Nokia puts it in a strong position in an African market that is starting to transition to smartphones.

The Asha 501, one of the many semi-smartphones Nokia sells in Africa

After its deal with Microsoft, the future of Nokia's non-Windows Phone devices has been called into question. But such devices could play a key role for Microsoft in targeting Africa, even as the continent begins to embrace smarter mobiles.

Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's devices and services unit for €5.4bn will help the software company to head off competition from Google in the lower-end of sub-Saharan Africa's smartphone market. The transaction also puts Microsoft in a stronger position to compete in a region that is only just beginning its transition from feature phones to smart devices.

Analysts covering the African telecoms market believe that Nokia's strong carrier relationships, brand equity, and supply chain across Africa, as well as its position in Africa's dumb and feature phone segments, will be major advantages for Microsoft in the years to come.

Oprah Winfrey at the 2013 Harvard Commencement
The world’s billionaires are, by definition, some of the most successful people on the planet — often building their own companies and changing the world with a new product or a huge philanthropic endeavor. This makes them natural candidates to give advice to young college graduates who are just starting out in the world.
This year, a handful of billionaires gave commencement addresses, including media powerhouse Oprah Winfrey, global philanthropist Melinda Gates, and AOL co-founder Steve Case. Here are some choices passages from their speeches:

Who we are

NOTE: Strictly for mature minds.

Well most people on seeing this new blog might say "ignore this s***,its jst another blog". Actually it is just another blog but at the same time not just another blog. Let me tell you why i created this blog in the first place.

Am a big fan of blogs like lindaikeji et all but sincerely speaking great minds hardly spend too much time reading news like this *pls no dis respect to Linda Ikeji*, i want to believe great minds seek knowledge relevant to their everyday growth.

So since i couldn't find a blog that was really mind blowing to me, i decided to create one that would affect lives postively and at the same time link other great minds together, that how i came up with the name League of Extra-Ordinary Gentlemen (LXG) .

Starting from the next post i would starting posting tech news, biz news, speeches, free apps for download, etc.

I really hope u hv fun.

with luv,
femzy.
